| Abstract | The text is addressed to representatives of government and administration in France. Mobilizing all relevant ministerial services for coping with violence in schools is the object of a governmental project for combating violence in schools presented on 5 November 1997 and of decisions passed within the general framework of operations to combat juvenile delinquency considered by the internal safety council on 8 June 1998. The article discusses education as the prime condition for prevention, specific measures to reinforce safety in schools, what to do when faced with violent situations, and interministerial partnership.
